The Beginners Only Clinic is a 3-day introductory clinic for those learning to ride and rope for the first time. You can bring your own horse or lease an NRS Ranch Rope Horse. You do not need a finished rope horse for this clinic. Learn the fundamentals on the ground of heading and heeling: Position, Swing, Target and Delivery, horsemanship skills and position on the sleds at a controlled pace, tack, saddle fitting and equipment use. The clinic starts in the class room quickly moves to the arena for ground work and finishes on horseback; roping the sled and tracking steers, putting a rope on your first live steer in the chute, tracking and dallying, and making your first attempt at catching a live steer. Any age, any gender, we can teach you how to rope, safely and in a fun family atmosphere.

Trey Johnson kicked off his roping career as PRCA Rookie of the Year in 2000, followed by winnings across the country. Since then he has been committed to sharing his God-given talent of roping and sharing the Word to make a difference in people’s lives. He has learned and taught clinics with some of the legends, including Allen Bach, Clay O’Brien Cooper and Jake Barnes. Trey’s infectious positive attitude makes learning to rope that much better.
